Why Kirk Cousins Should Stay in Washington

Kirk Cousins is not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady; Cousins does not have the strongest arm in the National Football League; he is not the fastest but (in my opinion) he is the perfect signal caller for the Washington Redskins and here is why.

Cousins is an Efficient Quarterback

Every fan wants a Brett Favre or a John Elway; they want to see their team's leader throw a 90 MPH fast ball for a game winning touchdown but I am an old timer; I prefer a quarterback who is efficient. Kirk Cousins career completion percentage is 65.9%. What does this mean? It means, Captain Kirk is one of the best quarterbacks at putting the ball where the receiver can adjust to make the catch.

Cousins and Jay Gruden Work Well Together

I have seen quarterbacks and players in general have tremendous performances and then they get traded or sign with another team and then they become a shell of what they were. Why? Certain players are made for certain coaches and/or systems. Kirk Cousins and Jay Gruden are the embodiment of this fact; they go together like peanut-butter and jelly; both are micro-managers; studiers of the game; blue collar mindsets mixed with a little modern razzle-dazzle. But if Cousins is traded or signs with another team both him and Gruden's razzle-dazzle and careers may fizzle.

I was never a Jay Gruden or Kirk Cousins fan but they have won me over; I now believe Superbowls can be won if they stay together in Washington. I hope Kirk Cousins, Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen and Jay Gruden feel the same way..if they do, a long-term deal will be reached soon and if the don't then back to the drawing board and many more seasons shouting Hail to the Redskins...even though they missed the playoffs!
